Fractions. Smart Pirate by Virtualnye Prostranstva LLC offers kids a fun way to learn fractions on an iOS device.

The app has four games, with each represented by an island. You’ll learn to read fractions as you offer and serve your pirates slices of pizza; choose equivalent fractions to get your pirates across the bottomless abyss; choose the bigger fraction to beat the One-Eyed Captain; and will have to add fractions to determine how much of a cake your pirate buddy takes.

Features of the app include a training mode at the beginning of each level, simple fractions that are randomly generated, fun animations, and three levels of difficulty in each game (easy, medium, and hard).

Do you have what it takes to help out your pirates? They’re awfully hungry!

Fractions. Smart Pirate was updated to Version 1.9.1 on May 19, 2013. The update added support for the iPad 3 and 4 and support for iOS 6. The app is available in eight different languages. There are a total of 70 customer ratings with an average of four out of five stars.

I had a hard time learning fractions as a kid and would have loved to have a fun game like this to help me out. I’ll definitely be using this app to help my daughter learn when it comes time to teach her how to do fractions!
