APP "Fracciones y piratas"

Mi grupo de 3° de EP esta semana ha empezado a trabajar las fracciones y buscando buscando he descubierto una APP muy chula que se llama

         
"PIRATAS Y FRACCIONES"

Piratas y fracciones es una manera divertida de aprender las fracciones con los piratas más astutos. Para niños de entre 6 y 8 años.
Idiomas disponibles: Español, Alemán, Noruego, Chino, Inglés, Francés, Neerlandés y Ruso.

En la primera isla, aprendemos a leer fracciones. Dales a los piratas de la isla algunas porciones de pizza y averigua la parte de pizza restantes para los piratas que están en el barco.

En la segunda isla, los piratas tienen que cruzar un precipicio sin fondo. Para poder hacerlo tienen que equilibrar el puente utilizando cestas con petardos. Ayuda a los piratas eligiendo una cesta con la fracción equivalente.

En la tercera isla, uno de los golosos piratas está dispuesto a disfrutar de unos trozos de tarta. Dale los trozos y averigua la parte de pastel que toma. No te equivoques, o el loro charlatán se comerá la tarta.

En la cuarta isla los piratas se encuentran con un  rival inesperado, el capitán Tuerto. ¡Pero nuestros valientes y viejos lobos de mar no tienen miedo! Asegúrate de que consiguen sandías más grandes que las del capitán.

CARACTERÍSTICAS:
Cuatro juegos en uno: fracciones imples, equivalentes, comparación y suma.
Las fracciones simples, con denominador entre 2 y 12, son generadas aleatoriamente.
Modo de entrenamiento al comienzo de cada nivel.
Tres niveles de dificultad en cada juego: fácil, medio y difícil.

Einführung Brüche

Den Bereich der gebrochenen Zahlen finden die Schüler alltäglich in ihrer Umwelt wieder und verfügen bereits über einige Vorkenntnisse. Ob zu Hause beim Backen oder Kochen mit ihren Eltern (in Form der benötigten Zutaten), in der Freizeit (in Form der Uhrzeiten: Viertel, Halb, Dreiviertel), bei sportlichen Aktivitäten (Halbzeit, Viertelfinale etc.) oder in der Schule im Musikunterricht (Achtelnoten, Viertelnoten, Halbe Noten, Ganze Noten): unbewusst gehen die Schüler in ihrem Alltag bereits mit Bruchteilangaben um. Folglich spielen Brüche bereits eine Rolle im Leben der Kinder. Aus dieser Alltagsbedeutung lässt sich die Gegenwarts- und Zukunftsbedeutung der Behandlung des Themas im Mathematikunterricht leicht ablesen.

Das Rechnen mit Bruchzahlen nimmt einen breiten Raum in der Oberstufe ein. Viele Schüler eignen sich die Rechenregeln rein mechanisch an, ein Verstehen hat nicht stattgefunden. Sie besitzen keine fundierte Vorstellung von Brüchen. Sie wandeln grundlegend alle vorhandenen Brüche in Dezimalzahlen um. Um aus dieser Problematik herauszukommen, brauchen Schüler einen Bruchbegriff, der an konkrete Situationen gebunden ist. Der Übergang vom konkreten Umgang mit Bruchteilen auf die abstrakte Ebene erfolgt meistens zu früh – ein Rückgriff auf konkrete Situationen muss möglich sein. Deswegen ist es wichtig, dass die Schüler bereits in der Mittelstufe verstehen was ein Bruch ist und welche Bedeutung dieser hat.

Des Weiteren sind die Brüche die Voraussetzung um weitere Operationen mit Brüchen durchführen zu können (Basis), Bsp.: Addieren, Subtrahieren,... Die Kenntnisse der Brüche sind eine Hilfe beim Verstehen und Lesen von bestimmten Diagrammen,Bsp.: Kreisdiagramm (Prozente zu 100). Auch Alltagsbegriffe bekommen eine Bedeutung und können einer konkreten Vorstellung zugeteilt werden, Bsp.: Jeder fünfte Dackel heißt Hubert. Zuletzt können die Kenntnisse über Brüche helfen Alltagskonflikte zu bewältigen, Bsp.: Drei Freunde wollen sich eine Pizza teilen.

What Fun Educational Apps Liked

"Fractions. Smart Pirate" math app is really engaging and my students loved it.  I loved the variety of activities available to practice.  The Common Core Standards don’t just focus on identifying fractions – they focus on the application of skills and using fractions in operations.  By working with equivalencies, comparing, and calculating, students have lots of different ways to practice.  

I also really like the different levels of difficulty. The easy level was perfect for my lower level students who are still learning fractions.  The medium and hard levels were really appropriate for older students who are capable of doing the calculations and comparing different denominators.  

Additionally, the pirate theme has become so popular in the past few years that children are engaged with the animations throughout the app. This app can be linked to Game Center for record keeping by parents, but this option can be turned off as well.

Equivalent Fractions in "Fractions. Smart Pirate" app

Equivalent Fractions asks students to balance a bridge with buckets of firecrackers so that the pirate can cross.  The fraction equivalencies are not easy and students will really need to think about the problem.  If they choose the wrong bucket of firecrackers, they explode.  The Comparing section is similar.  Students must choose the watermelon that is larger than the one the captain is holding.  The easy levels have fractions with the same denominators.  The medium levels have different denominators and the hard levels work with larger numbers and varied denominators.

Simple Fractions has students divide a pizza between pirates.  Players must give the pirates on the beach a piece of pizza from an already divided pizza.  They must then identify the fraction that remains to give out the pieces to the pirates in the boat.  The Addition section has the player put two cake fractions on the plate.  They must then add the two fractions to find the answer.  The Easy level has fractions with common denominators, while the other two levels have mixed denominators and students must reduce the fraction to get the answer.
